Nicolas Heintz, as his name does not suggest, is Corsican… With a Laser background, thanks to taking classes in Porticcio, this former STAPS (Science and Technique of Physical and Sports Activities) student, who exceeds the quintal, has the frame of a rugby lock forward, and according to the Franck Cammas he has the best physical potential of the crew. At just 33 years of age, he has established himself naturally, and is also working very hard to achieve his dream of racing off Bermuda in flight mode.

Sailing with school in Corsica!

I’ve had so many; I’m sure there will be more, shortly…! I hope so!

What does the America’s Cup mean to you?
A dream, which has become an objective!

Do you recall a special moment in an America’s Cup? If so, can you tell us about it?
The last cup was really fantastic to watch… it was incredible to see the comeback by the Americans…



Housework, cooking, gardening, what do you do at home?
A modern man, I do everything, with varying degrees of success; but I do everything!

What can we find in your fridge?
Food, what a question…! You surely didn’t expect me to say my bike :-)

Your morning ritual?
I get out of bed… and I ‘always’ get off to a good start!

Your favourite meal?
Egg, ‘Pulenda’ (polenta), which is a Corsican bread made of chestnut flour, water, salt and Figatellu, a Corsican speciality comprising fresh sausage essentially made of meat and pork liver. Just talking about it… yum!

On a Sunday when you’re not working, what do you do?
It depends on the season, the moment and my environment!

My dad, my mum and my brother

A science fiction film: Hardcore Henry
